MAYNARD PATACSIL – ASSOCIATE COACH 17WHITE
Maynard joins the club with 10 years of coaching experience, seven of which is at the Club Level. Born and raised in San Francisco and currently a Vallejo resident, Maynard is married with two girls and employed full-time in Contra Costa County, while also running the volleyball program at Benicia HS where he is the head volleyball coach for Boys and Girls Varsity, and assistant coach for the Boys and Girls JV teams, as well as the Frosh Girls team.
Maynard was introduced into volleyball during a P.E. class in middle school, he was instantly hooked and wanted to learn more. Growing up in San Francisco, he fondly recalls there weren't many volleyball programs available, so all he could do was watch the Olympics and World games. It wasn't until his eldest daughter joined the volleyball team at her school that he got a chance to participate in the sport again as a coach to develop young athletes, see them flourish, and excel into high school and beyond.
Included in his coaching experience is developing a volleyball program for a private school in Vallejo for 5th-8th grade. Before coming to Xceleration, Maynard coached at Club Solano in all coaching capacities for all age groups and at Vacaville Extreme 17's.
In his spare time, Maynard plays in an intramural volleyball league in Vallejo as a DS/Libero. Maynard has an A.S. Degree Law Enforcement and is working to get a B.S. in Business Management. He is certified in First Aid/CPR, AED, ASCC, and SafeSport.
Maynard said, “I love to see the growth of the players and to instill confidence just not through volleyball, but in life. I enjoy teaching the fundamentals and see the progress. If I could make a difference or impact a person's life, by giving them a chance to excel and feel confident, then I have succeeded as a coach.”

Will there be Pre-Tryout Clinics/Sunday Open Gyms?
These clinics are led by coaches from our current staff and will combine skills drills with light competition. The clinics provide an opportunity for players and parents to meet our coaches, and likewise an opportunity for them to meet you. As with our clinics in all past seasons, the clinics will be fast-paced, instructional, and structured to benefit all who attend. They are also beneficial in allowing athletes to prepare for tryouts and for parents to learn more about the club and the specific age-group coaches.
Do I need to register with the WCVBA prior to registering for tryouts?
Yes, all players will need to register with the NCVA for a tryout membership or full membership for each season. NCVA registration opens September 1. Visit our Tryouts Information page to learn the tryout procedures, including how to obtain an NCVA membership number. You will need this NCVA number at tryouts or to register online.
How can the club help me continue playing volleyball at the collegiate level?
Xceleration has a College Development Program that is a FREE service to all its members. There are workshops scheduled each year that will explain the recruiting process in detail and help players get started in exploring their academic and athletic opportunities in college. Click on College Development Program for more information.
Does the name of the club affect my chances of playing in college?
Plain and simple, no. If you can play, the coaches will find you no matter where you play or what court you are playing on at a tournament. However, it DOES help if someone is helping to get them to your court, and that is where our College Development team assists our athletes at tournaments.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: PRACTICES AND TOURNAMENTS
(November 4, 2020) - As we move into the club season, Xceleration has dribbled out information in the past few weeks to its members on the club’s plans for practices and tournaments. Here are a few FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS that are top of mind for many. Under normal circumstances, we would have communicated these plans at the Parents Meeting during Tryouts and then reiterated at the club’s Signing Night. If you have any additional questions, please Contact Us.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM XCELERATION: PLEASE READ!
(November 16, 2020) - Due to stricter County public health restrictions, we cannot emphasize enough and underscore the critical importance of a few simple and basic precautions during the pandemic that everyone MUST continue to follow, to ensure that we do not put our health and safety, our program’s use of NorCal facilities, or our entire season at risk.
Please be reminded to follow these precautions...
We have had several age groups who have repeatedly been told to remain 6 ft. apart while waiting outside of our practice facility and continuously disregard this facility mandate. If this and other mandates set forth by the NorCal Courts are not followed, we are at risk of losing our court time, as well as putting our health and safety at risk from the pandemic.
We as a club cannot tolerate this and are issuing a warning that if the rules of the facility are not followed, we will have to remove the habitual offenders from their cohorts/teams and will not be issuing refunds.
Thank you for your cooperation and adherence to these simple rules. We realize these requirements are inconvenient but we must do all we can to keep everyone stay healthy and safe.

Please be reminded to follow these precautions...
- WEAR A MASK! Keep face coverings on at all times before entering and after leaving the facility. Masks must be worn at all times once outside of your vehicles until you arrive to your pods’/cohorts’ designated area. Wearing a mask is not mandatory to use while participating in the drills (but highly encouraged, if feasible).
- SOCIAL DISTANCE! Stay at least 6 ft. apart from anyone outside of your cohort. Do not congregate or loiter in any areas around the facility. Proper social distancing is required while waiting outside of the facility and walking in and out of the facility (there are markings outside for the athletes to use to help keep them properly spaced out). All athletes must maintain 6 ft. apart while waiting to enter the facility, no excuses. Even if you are in a pod together and arrive onto the property together, try to remain at least 6 ft. apart!
- PARKING LOT PROTOCOLS! Parents and siblings are not allowed to congregate in the parking lot, near the rolling doors, or the entrances during practice sessions. They must either stay in the vehicles or practice social distancing by staying 6 ft. apart WITH a mask if outside their vehicles. Only players are allowed in the gym.
- AVOID TOUCHING YOUR FACE AND USE SANITIZERS! Use hand sanitizers before, during, and after practice and avoid touching your face and mouth.
- COVER YOUR SNEEZE OR COUGH! Use the fold of your elbows to cover sneezes or coughs.
- STAY HOME! If you are not feeling well, please stay at home.
- KEEP US INFORMED! If you are traveling during the holidays or have come in contact with someone infected with the virus, please let us know, and we encourage you to self-quarantine for at least 14 days.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE REGARDING PRACTICES FOR ALL TEAMS: WE ALL NEED TO DOUBLE DOWN...PLEASE READ AND FOLLOW STRICTER MEASURES IN PLACE!
(November 30, 2020) - More than ever, to reduce the risk of jeopardizing our health and use of NorCal Courts, we need to stress the importance of simple safety protocols as practices begin for all teams starting today.
Our NorCal facility recently received a visit from the Martinez Police at the request of the Consumer Protection Unit (CPU), District Attorney's Office for Contra Costa County resulting from a direct complaint which named failure to social distance, failure to wear masks, and more than 12 per court. We were advised to strictly follow the CDC guidelines (linked here). Further, NorCal Courts was warned that if safety protocols are not followed, the CPU will have no choice but to require that we close the building and cease all activity.
In the last few weeks, we’ve underscored the importance of using face coverings, social distancing, and proper hygiene… these remain in place with a few important changes and potential adjustments to the schedule provided below.
As always, we ask for any suggestions for improvement and note that focus is on providing a safe environment where girls can practice skills and remain active.

In the last few weeks, we’ve underscored the importance of using face coverings, social distancing, and proper hygiene… these remain in place with a few important changes and potential adjustments to the schedule provided below.
- Entering the Gym (NEW): Participants are asked to arrive on-time but not early. Players are to remain in their vehicles until the beginning of their designated practice time and do not congregate in the parking areas or the entrances earlier than needed. On arrival, go to assigned spots. We need to keep from having girls enter before the previous cohorts have departed.
- Use of Face Coverings at All Times (NEW): Coaches and players must wear masks at all times. We are now requiring all players and coaches to wear masks throughout the practice sessions, including during skill drills and while on breaks. For players with breathing issues (e.g., asthma and similar), please refrain from any activity immediately or take a break at the outset, when your condition persists or worsens; let your coaches know and do not feel obligated that you have to continue.
- Players on the Court: There will be no more than 12 players on a court; the cohorts are stable, including supervising adults, and there is no mixing.
- Social Distancing: Only drills that can be done while maintaining social distance will be practiced.
- Issues and Concerns: If anyone has issues or concerns regarding these safety protocols, or anything in general, Xceleration and NorCal Courts would appreciate getting them directly from you to allow us to correct or adjust as needed, so that we can remain open.
- Practice & Schedule Changes: Flexibility is appreciated as we maneuver through various edicts and changes resulting from the current situation. These two items regarding schedules are being discussed and reviewed at this time and more information will follow.
- Scheduling Changes: To create more space in the NorCal facilities, we are looking at possible earlier start times (from those currently published) for a few teams to reduce the number of groups in the building from three to two. We will review the feasibility of this plan with our coaches and teams over the next few weeks. Reducing the participants per time-slot will alleviate the density in the facility by having fewer teams in the building at a time.
- High School Schedules: Due to the delay in the start of high school athletic schedules to a later date (possibly in January or later), we will consider reinstating our regular 3-days per week practice schedule for the 15s-18s until the high school season begins.
As always, we ask for any suggestions for improvement and note that focus is on providing a safe environment where girls can practice skills and remain active.
Xceleration Volleyball Club Tryouts for the 2021 club season will be held on Saturday and Sunday, November 2-3, 2019 (for 12s -17s age groups) at the Xceleration Sports Facility, 360 Ferry Street, Martinez, CA. Tryouts are open to all girls interested in playing club volleyball.

A MESSAGE FROM COACH ROB BROWNING
Dear Xceleration,
Life has never been as surreal as it is right now. None of us have ever lived through something like this. I hope you are all healthy and safe with family. A few thoughts...
MAKE TODAY GREAT
Each morning might be a lot like Groundhog Day, but every day you need to get up and pledge to MAKE TODAY GREAT. Try not to worry about tomorrow. Make today a little bit better than yesterday. It’s all about today!
MAKE TODAY GREAT FOR SOMEONE ELSE
Be a source of joy and service to your family. Lift others up around you. Make a positive difference in your home. Do something kind and unexpected for your siblings or your parents. When you are a source of joy and service to your family, you will bring more joy into your own day.
EXERCISE DISCIPLINE
You are still busy, I know. You have virtual classes and homework. In some ways it might even be harder than in person. Discipline is simply doing what needs to be done, when it needs to be done. Discipline is doing. The other part of discipline is saying NO to things that really don’t get you any closer to your personal goals. We say EXERCISE discipline because every time you choose to be disciplined, you get stronger at it, just like your body gets stronger when you exercise it.
TAKE TIME FOR YOURSELF
I’m not just referring to binging on your favorite show, I mean take personal time to think, reflect, set goals, pursue artistic endeavors and other hobbies. You need to make a little time for yourself each day away from social media and Netflix.
ENJOY THIS TIME WITH YOUR FAMILY
I know it’s getting old, but this time with family is precious. Enjoy it! Play games, eat meals together, have fun! You want to make this a time that you will look back on as extremely odd, but memorable!!
I hope you all are healthy and thriving in spite of the circumstances.

FALL BALL TO INCLUDE OFFERS FOR 2021 CLUB VOLLEYBALL SEASON... REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN!
(August 10, 2020) - We are making a few adjustments to our fall and winter programs. Starting August 16 through October 29, Xceleration will be offering three Fall Ball sessions for high school players, and we highly encourage those planning to join Xceleration for the upcoming club volleyball season to attend these camps. At the current situation, these will replace our Sunday Open Gyms, Pre-Tryout Clinics, and possibly the 2021 Season Tryouts.
As a result of the delayed high school volleyball season, which starts in December, and the realization that tryouts in early November is unlikely to happen due to continued health restrictions regarding limited gatherings to no more than 15 people, the Fall Ball camps will primarily serve to prepare our players for their high school volleyball season, as well as to begin assembling our teams for the 2021 competitive club volleyball season. It is important to note that Fall Ball for all age groups will be used as a part of the tryout process and that offers will be extended during this time. Coaches for the 2020-2021 season can be found on our website under Staff.
Due to contact tracing requirements and the need to create pods/bubble groups, you must attend the duration of your selected session and movements from one session to another is not allowed. No drop-ins will be accepted. Sign-ups for the entire session will be required. You may sign up for all three sessions if you'd like, but space is limited and registrations will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis.
There will be no refunds or credits for any cancellations or no shows after registration.

As varsity coach at Monte Vista, J.J. directed the squad to back-to-back East Bay Athletic League (EBAL) and North Coast Section (NCS) Championships by using Carol Dweck’s Mindset principles to overturn an 0-14 start to finish several 30+ win seasons. This worst-to-first arc caught the attention of the Positive Coaching Alliance, who named her a National Finalist Coach of the Year in 2015. In 2014, she was Sportstars Northern California Coach of the Year and Knight-Ridder Newspapers Coach of the Year. Her 2015 squad advanced to the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) state semi-finals. Developing student-athletes is her lifelong passion and her players have enjoyed success at Stanford, Harvard, Cal, New York University, several University of California and California State University schools, and many high quality smaller schools. She has used her college admissions adviser certificate from Cal to guide her players as they evaluate college for both athletic and academic fit.
As a player, she earned All-League honors in basketball (4 years) and volleyball (3 years) and All Sac Joaquin Section in both sports as well. Recruited to Stanford as a setter and a small forward, volleyball became her primary sport. Playing middle blocker, she was a part of Stanford’s own “worst-to-first” rise as a member of the first team to make the NCAA Final Four. She played a spring season for Cecina, Italy’s A-2 team as an opposite, and returned to the U.S. to coach the men’s and women’s teams at then-Division II U.C. Davis. She has served as a High Performance evaluator and trainer, Mentor, and Level III Coach for USA Volleyball. J.J. serves as Poet Laureate of San Ramon, and is back in school at St. Mary’s College, where she’s pursuing an MFA in Poetry. It took five attempts, but she finally finished her first book this summer. J.J. believes having fun on the court is the best way to learn our sport. MARY STRONG – SETTING COACH
Nominated for an Emmy as the host of the Fox Sports Net show "Dig" and the Directv Sports Mix, the vibrant and dynamic Mary Strong discovered her love for sports at an early age. After watching her aunt play volleyball for Pepperdine University, she decided to follow in her footsteps and set her sights on earning a scholarship to play volleyball in college.
Strong joined the Notre Dame HS volleyball team where she received All-CIF and League MVP honors, and eventually landed a full-ride scholarship as a NCAA Division I athlete on the women’s volleyball team at Loyola Marymount University. Strong helped lead LMU to victory as the WCC Conference Champs and parlayed her love for sports into a life-long career as a broadcast journalist and professional athlete.
Strong traveled the country working for NBC and CNN where her extensive journalistic experience garnered her an Edward R. Morrow Award for her work in continuous LIVE news coverage both as a field reporter and anchor. She eventually combined her love for sports with her passion for storytelling by becoming a sports broadcaster for Fox Sports Net and NFL Network. Strong was one of the first women in sports broadcasting, covering PAC-10 football, AVP pro-beach volleyball and the World Series of Poker for Fox Sports Net. She later joined NFL Network anchoring LIVE news coverage for “NFL Network Now” and "Total Access." Strong covered the Poker Championships for NBC Sports and traveled with the International Pool Tour as a sideline reporter. She also hosted various shows for The Game Show Network and Outdoor Life Network, and helped launch the Directv Sports Mix for Directv’s innovative Mix channels.
Eventually Strong circled back to the sport she loved and played professionally on the AVP pro-beach volleyball tour both nationally and internationally, ranking top 20. She would often find herself stepping off the court, wiping off the sweat and sand, and grabbing her microphone to go LIVE for the AVP broadcast on Fox Sports Net.
Throughout her broadcasting and sports career, Strong taught yoga as a way to give back to her community. Yoga helped her prevent injuries as a professional athlete and she wanted to share its benefits with others. In 2009 she opened The Green Yogi, an eco-chic power yoga studio, in Manhattan Beach, California. Strong was voted top 20 yoga instructors in Los Angeles in 2013 and won various "Best Yoga Studio" accolades from 2009-2017. She was also a yoga ambassador for Lululemon and developed a line of candles called, Simply Om, to help support more than 7 global charities. Strong’s’ yoga studio was a hub for athletes from the NFL, NBA and NHL looking to take their game to a higher level through the deep and focused practice of yoga, both mentally and physically.
Strong and her husband moved to the Bay Area, where she opened her second studio location in Berkeley, California. In 2018, after owning her studios for nearly a decade, Strong decided to focus on raising her young daughter and inspiring the next generation of athletes. She currently coaches volleyball and teaches yoga in the East Bay while running The Green yogi Online, an online virtual yoga studio, to help make yoga accessible to everyone. Strong was recently inducted into the Notre Dame HS Hall of Fame for her outstanding achievements in volleyball, allowing her to come full circle and thank her coaches, teammates and family for their contribution to her life in sports.
Strong's approach to coaching integrates her high-level achievements in athletics and business with the powerful yogic principles of mind over body, “Often times we think as athletes that physically showing up is enough, but your mind must be fully present or you’re only operating at half capacity. In order to consistently achieve the highest level at anything you do, you must train your mind to operate in the now. That’s how games are won, and more importantly, how you can make what appears to be impossible, possible.” Read more here and watch here.

Prior to her college career, Malia attended St. Patrick - St. Vincent HS where she helped the team to four North Coast Section playoff appearances, capturing the CIF-NCS Banner in 2013. She was a three-time Tri County Athletic League first-team selection after garnering TCAL Rookie of the Year in 2012. Malia is happy to be back and excited to help young athletes grow and learn the game of volleyball.
MICHAELA GARDNER – ASSOCIATE COACH 16WHITE
Michaela returns for her 2nd year with Xceleration as the 16White associate coach, following last year’s coaching stint as co-head coach of the 15White. Michaela played on the club’s 18-1 team and completed her collegiate volleyball career at Ashford University, Cal State East Bay, and Bellevue University. Michaela has assisted at Diablo Valley VBC and Premier VBC in Nebraska and has also coached at multiple volleyball camps for kids. She prepped at St. Patrick-St. Vincent, first playing middle and then finished as an outside hitter. In college, Michaela was an outside hitter all four years. In her first collegiate season at Ashford University in Iowa, she earned Freshman of the Year and First-Team All-Conference for the NAIA, followed by a year at Cal State East Bay, and then at Bellevue University in Nebraska. During her junior and senior years at Bellevue, her team made it to nationals both years. She is currently finishing her psychology degree.
Michaela said, “I first fell in love with the game of volleyball my freshman year of high school, after I was asked by the coaches to join because I’m so tall. I told them I didn’t know how to play but they convinced me to try. From my first practice my love for the game grew profoundly. I started out on the freshman team; the game seemed so much more fun and easier to get the hang of than basketball, which I had been playing since the third grade. By the end of my freshman season I was pulled up to varsity for post- season and I was determined to play volleyball in college. I was able to accomplish this goal by hard work and the guidance of the Xceleration family.”
She followed, “I enjoy passing on the knowledge that I’ve learned throughout my volleyball experience and seeing how that knowledge positively impacts the girls’ skills I’m coaching. It also gives me the opportunity to stay connected to the sport I love. I enjoy being able to bring the gift of volleyball to other people and be a step in their path to get them where they want to be.” Her favorite athlete is Serena Williams.
MICHELLE HECTOR-BRANNER – PRACTICE COACH 16WHITE
Michelle is in her 2nd year with Xceleration and in her 3rd at the club and middle school levels. The Oakland resident played high school volleyball at George Washington HS in San Francisco where she was an All-City Middle Hitter. Previously, her 12U team won its regional championship while at Club Kalani. Michelle said, “Leadership and motivating people to be their best self is what I do. Fun is a necessity to life and I love the outdoors.” She followed, “I enjoy coaching, to assist girls in becoming the best player they can be. Teaching girls the true meaning of team. We win together, we lose together. Success is what you make it.” In addition to volleyball, her favorite sports are water and snow skiing. Michelle has a BA in Psychology and an MBA, and is currently working on a doctorate in Organizational Leadership. Her favorite athletes are Serena Williams and Klay Thompson.
J.J. GEARHART-UTCHEN – HEAD COACH 12BLUE
J.J. Gearhart-Utchen is back with Xceleration as a coach. While J.J.’s daughters Audrey (Washington College) and Lo (SDSU) dreamed of playing for Andy and Jeremy as they came up through Monte Vista High School, J.J. dreamed of coaching with Xcel once her daughters finished their own collegiate careers! Her Monte Vista teams were American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic National winners for six years running.
She looks forward to helping the 12’s develop all of their skills as they chase their volleyball dreams.
KRISTEN ROOT – ASSOCIATE COACH 13WHITE
Kristen returns to Xceleration as associate coach of the 13White after coaching Xceleration’s 16White and 14White the past few seasons. With years of coaching experience, the Libero/DS at Oakland's Holy Names University (HNU) and Sacramento's American River Community College loves helping people reach their goals. She loves the game and enjoys helping girls gain confidence and skills that apply to every aspect of life. At HNU she was named to the PacWest Conference All-Academic team. Before that in high school, Kristen was named the Best Defensive player during her senior year and played club volleyball for Force, Gold Cal Jrs., and Precision.
Kristen has a Master of Public Policy from Pepperdine University and B.A. in International Relations from HNU. Kristen’s favorite athlete is basketball legend Michael Jordan for his quote, "Never say never, because limits, like fears, are often just an illusion."
LUCAS ABBOTT – HEAD COACH 16BLUE
Lucas returns for his 9th season with Xceleration and has coached or played volleyball for almost 25 years. In 2018, his 15Blue team finished Top 5 in the Open Division at the AAU Girls' Nationals in Orlando. Also, in the 2018 Final National 15s Club Rankings, Prepvolleyball ranked his team at #45 (of 80 ranked) in the nation and was the highest ranked 15s team in the NCVA!
Lucas was a Middle Blocker and All-League performer at Las Lomas HS in Walnut Creek, CA before heading off to play D1 volleyball at Humboldt State University in Arcata, CA. While at Humboldt, Lucas was the team’s starting Middle Blocker for four seasons and team captain his last two seasons, and led the squad to Nationals twice. His playing career continued until 2013, culminating with a season playing professionally with the PVL/NCVA’s NorCal Premier. Lucas is currently Girls’ Varsity Head Coach at Berean Christian HS in Walnut Creek, CA. He has taken his team to the NCS playoffs all five of his seasons as the Head Coach including making it to the CIF State playoffs twice. He has also served as the assistant coach for the PVL/NCVA Men’s NorCal Premier in previous seasons.
Away from volleyball, Lucas has dedicated his career to youth development, which he incorporates into his coaching. He is the director for a youth mentoring outreach program at the University of California Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, called Boost@BerkeleyHaas
HALEY WALSH – HEAD COACH 18WHITE
Xceleration alumnus Haley Walsh returns to the club for her 3rd year as the 18White Head Coach after a storied volleyball career as a Defensive Specialist at both Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ and then at Portland State University (PSU) in Oregon where she was a two-time Big Sky Fall All-Academic honoree in 2016 and 2017. She earned her degree from PSU in History in 2018. Prior to her college career, the Las Lomas HS (Walnut Creek, CA) graduate lettered in volleyball three times as a DS/Libero and Outside Hitter. There she was featured by Cal High Sports in its Top 4 Plays of the Year and won the North Coast Section Division II Championship in 2012, earned 2nd team All-League in 2013, and 1st team All-League and MVP in 2014. Haley was a college recruit out of Xceleration after her time with the 18Blue team.
KAYLA COLEMAN – ASSOCIATE COACH 16BLUE
Kayla returns for her 9th season with Xceleration after a break from coaching last year. Kayla has assisted coaching the 13White, 15Blue, 16Blue, and 17White teams during her previous seasons with the club. Kayla graduated from Holy Names University (HNU) in Oakland where she was the starting Libero for the volleyball team for three seasons. During her career at HNU, Kayla made the All-Conference team twice and was selected Libero of the Year in her senior season. The Turlock native was her league MVP for two years in high school. Kayla received her professional doctorate degree in pharmacy and is a registered pharmacist for Blue Shield.

2018 Tryouts Results
(November 12, 2017) - All teams are complete. The numbers we had at tryouts at some age groups were large and we wish we could accommodate all of the talented players that walked through our doors. We thank ALL of you for your interest in Xceleration! The turnout in both numbers and quality of play was amazing. We want to assist if we can in helping you continue to play club volleyball. We have good relationships with many of the clubs in the area and can reach out to them to see if they are still looking for players. Some of them have already reached out to us looking for players. If you would like us to assist, please e-mail Jim Ross at '[email protected]' with your players name, playing age group and position. We will reach out to other clubs with that info.
If you are a 12- or 13-year old and wish to play for Xceleration, please reach out to us. These teams are set, but we will consider adding an additional player or two.
We have been asked about the potential 3rd 15's team since we did have such a large tryout at that age group. We explored the possibility very aggressively and have decided not to move forward with one. We would only consider adding a 3rd team if we could have put one together that was up to the standards of the club. First and foremost that would mean finding quality coaches to take that team. We did reach out to some coaches we know and gauged their interest. Ultimately they decided that coaching club volleyball was not in the cards for them this season. We also did not want to stretch our current coaches too thin by adding a second team to their duties. As stated above, if you are a "15" and need assistance finding a club, please reach out to us.
Last but not least .... we want to express our sincere appreciation to our generous, hard working, incredible volunteers who assisted at tryouts and will continue to assist all season long. Kim Borch, LaShiem Clark, Laura Hahn, and Shannon Kussman enabled us to check all of you in smoothly and quickly. Tomas Pineda, Normie Pineda and John David were there all day - both days and worked tirelessly to assure a beneficial tryout for all. They will be with us all season long and we would NOT be the club we are without them! And finally, Tina Ross who generously gives her time to our club every tryout season. She works long days before and after tryouts, keeps everything operating smoothly, makes sure our coaches and staff are well fed and hydrated throughout a long weekend and assures that our tryouts benefit all the players. -- Thank You all!!

Important Note to Parents/Guardians: There will be a mandatory Parents/Guardians Meeting at the beginning of each tryout session to get important information about the club, including changes to our Travel Policy, Signing Night details, and the club season in general. At least one parent (or guardian) from each participant must attend. The Xceleration staff will also be available to answer any questions that you may have about the club.
A Note About Tryouts:
In the past, there has been word spread that many of our spots for our teams are given out prior to tryouts. We wanted to address this. The practice of offering spots prior to tryouts is not one that is confined to Xceleration. MANY clubs have this practice whether they choose to talk about it or not. At Xceleration, we have always chosen to be up front and open about it.
That being said, yes we do offer "some" spots on our Blue teams to players who have attended our clinics prior to tryouts. Our teams are by no means fully committed prior to tryouts and there are always spots open on all our Blue and White teams at tryouts. Everyone who attends an Xceleration tryout will be given a thorough and complete evaluation and a competitive opportunity to be offered a spot on our teams. If you have any concerns about this, then please talk to us directly at one of the upcoming Pre-Tryout Clinics on October 15, 22 and 29.
